Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Systems Architect/Senior Software Engineer

REPORTS TO:         IT/Project Manager

SUMMARY:

This role will be responsible for the overall development, performance, and efficacy of the entire codebase.

The Systems Architect/Senior Software Engineer works collaboratively within the IT department and other business units to provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for one or more projects; oversees development and implementation of programs, providing technical leadership and support to software development teams by identifying best-fit architectural solutions; and actively participates and responsible for the overall development, performance, and efficacy of the entire codebase. This role will serve as a technical liaison between the business and the project team of developers and testers, will leverage their architecture, design, and technical skills and experience to develop cost-effective and timely solutions to meet functional, code quality, and performance requirements.

This role will require thorough knowledge of AWS with web, mobile, database, and API development experience with strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors and make adjustments while contributing towards developing and adhering to best-practices for applications that are scalable, secure, reliable, and critical to the business.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Design, develop, and drive the standards, development processes, systems architectures, and design patterns to support IT and business solutions

  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders through design and implementation, including needs analysis and system requirements

  • Define and refine methodology and standards for setup, design, and implementation of the application or technology to meet the needs of the business

  • Generate detailed system requirements with cost projections, cost-benefit analysis, and ROI

  • Coordinate with product development teams in defining project scope and approaches

  • Coordinate with both internal and external software development teams in implementing software applications

  • Propose most effective architectural solutions to meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements

  • Coach or mentor other developers when required to ensure quality and productivity

  • Work with project team to design prototypes to validate application functionality

  • Assist managers in analyzing project requirements and project designs

  • Participate in design, code, and test plan reviews as needed and provide appropriate recommendations

  • Analyze software issues and recommend workaround solutions

  • Develop best practices to ensure software functionality, usability, reliability, and availability

  • Respond to business queries and concerns professionally and build positive customer relationships

  • Assist in development of design documents, white papers, training documents, and software architectural documents

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited academic institution preferred

  • 7+ years of experience working in software development

  • 3+ years of experience working in application architect role

  • Proficient understanding of the AWS platform including: EC2 instances, Elastic Load Balancer, ElastiCache for Redis, Beanstalk, CodeDeploy, CloudWatch, and Route 53

  • Proficient understanding of virtualization technologies for servers, storage, and networking

  • Experience with PHP development with frameworks such as Laravel, PHPUnit, PEST, Composer

  • Experience with JavaScript language and frameworks including Vue.js

  • Experience with mobile application development for iOS and Android devices including React Native framework

  • Experience with container systems such as Docker and Docker Compose

  • Experience with tools such as: Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Node

  • Experience with database systems like MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL

  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban

  • Experience working in the Healthcare domain a plus

  • Experience with Healthcare EDI transactions: ICD10, HL7, and FIHR a plus

  • Strong understanding of security, risk, compliance, disaster recovery, high availability architectures, hardware, operating systems, and networking connectivity
