The Ohio Attorney
General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and
the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of
nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist
the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and
agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff
members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.
We are currently seeking
experienced, licensed attorneys with a passion for public service, demonstrated
commitment to protecting Ohio's families, and an ability to work effectively
with diverse groups. The successful candidates will possess strong oral,
written and verbal communication skills, be able to articulate complex legal

The Ohio Attorney General's Office
is seeking Assistant Attorneys General for openings in the following sections in
our Columbus, OH Office.
Education Section: Seeking an experienced attorney to represent Ohio's 14 universities and 23
two-year state community colleges, community colleges and technical colleges.
This representation involves coordination of the work of in-house attorneys who
handle the day-to-day work for the colleges and universities. The
representation also includes working with and overseeing the special counsel.
-Provides advice and
training on issues relating to higher education, including employment, state
contracts, student privacy and discipline.
-Represents the colleges
and universities in federal and state courts as well as in administrative
-Handles litigation in
federal and state courts and administrative hearings related to Ohio's
community schools (charter schools), special education services, educator
discipline and licensure, territory transfer, transportation, child nutrition
and public records.
Employment Law Section: Seeking an experienced attorney
(preferably 5 years or more) with strong discovery, research, and writing
skills to represent clients in complex federal court litigation involving
employment matters as well as some administrative hearings, appear as counsel
or senior co-counsel, handle large caseload for multiple clients, serve as lead
counsel on difficult cases, interpret complex issues of law, review work of
lower-level attorneys and develop legal arguments.
Section: Seeking two Assistant Attorneys General with 2 to 5
years of litigation experience looking for an opportunity to engage in very
interesting and at times complex litigation that requires excellent oral,
written, and client communication skills. The successful candidate will have
sufficient experience and judgment to eventually function independently in a
supervised relationship. Duties may include: civil enforcement litigation in
state and federal courts; appellate work; administrative litigation;
representing the Ohio Power Siting Board Staff in administrative hearings and
appeals; rulemaking reviews; and appeals of federal rulemaking. The
successful candidates may also support civil and administrative litigation,
dealing primarily with water or natural resources issues and related
post-judgment litigation, that span the entirety of the work in the Environmental
Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.
