Basic Job Functions: The Traffic Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to, taking care of our customers by executing the division's safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives. This position manages freight carrier relationships and negotiates freight rates, works with our sales department to take care of our customer's shipping needs, work with the Nucor Load Center to better manage our logistics, and maintain/adjust our division's freight rate matrix. The Traffic Coordinator will be available to assist weighing trucks in and out at the scale house, communicate with truck drivers, resolve system or paperwork problems with sales or production teammates, approve freight invoicing, and handle various administrative tasks. The Traffic Coordinator will also assist with inventory functions as needed. Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays. Experience with coordinating, scheduling, and managing truck freight carriers.
Proficiency in utilizing computer resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
Understanding of day to day shipping processes and requirements.
Familiar with operating within EBS and Carrier Point.
