Basic Job Functions: Universal Industrial Gases, Inc. (UIG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor and a well-established, global engineer, constructor, supplier and operator of air separation plants and related equipment and services, based in Bethlehem, PA. UIG owns and operates production plants across the USA which supply both Nucor steel sites and also third-party clients 24/7 with tonnage quantities of oxygen, nitrogen and argon.
UIG is currently seeking a CAD Detailer in Bethlehem, PA. The CAD Detailer will be primarily responsible for the completion of the detailed 2D drawings developed from the CAD model, CAD model 2D extraction (i.e. Isometrics, Orthographic, Plan and Section Views) to support bid packages and RFQs, development of a Process and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) of the entire air separation plants. Additional responsibilities and expectations include:
Presenting P&ID to a design review board.
Accurately populating all attributes of P&ID symbols with model number, manufacturer, and specifications
Checking own work prior to release and lead peer review quality assurance practices with fellow team mates.
Clearly and effectively collaborating with Design Teammates and Design Manager via remote operations or in office.
Efficiently learning and operating Autodesk Plant 3D and P&ID software solution.
Generating P&ID documentation with proper valve and instrument tagging utilizing Autodesk Plant P&ID and drafting standards.
Supporting construction projects in the field either from the office, remote setting, or at the construction site.
Providing support to questions relating to Isometrics, Plan and Sections, and P&ID.
Utilizing Plant "Validation" to conduct Accuracy and Completeness tests comparing P&ID to Plant 3d model
CAD Detailer will travel to site locations, when required.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Two-year associate's degree in CAD Mechanical Design Technology or High School Diploma (Acceptable Alternatives: Career Institute of Technology in Computer Aided Design, Vocational Technical Trade Schools) with five years' experience in Large Plant Piping Design.
Experience working with Microsoft Windows and Office, 3D Database Driven Computer Aided Design Software's (Acceptable format experience includes: Solidworks, Smart Plant 3d, AutoPlant, Plant 3d, CADWorx, All Autodesk products)
Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation, Smart P&ID's, specifications, client requirements, prints/specs, technical writing, vendor drawings, quotations, bill of materials and valve and instrument lists.
Prior hands-on project experience with large scale plant CAD designs, ideally in a cryogenic air separation environment.
Strong document management and control skills and experience
