KSTU, the Scripps FOX station in Salt Lake City, Utah is looking for an experienced, passionate and engaging meteorologist for our weekday afternoon and evening newscasts. The Salt Lake City DMA is the largest geographic television market in the country, covering the entire state of Utah and portions of Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada. Seasonal weather coverage includes major snowstorms, avalanches, ski conditions, monsoons, tornadoes, hail, flash flooding, wildfires and drought. Because of those factors, and the love Utahns have for the outdoors, weather is a critical part of FOX 13 s news coverage. You Will: Prepare and deliver daily broadcast weather reports utilizing clean and compelling graphics, live cameras, and other multi-media elements. Respond quickly when urgent weather information requires breaking into programming and delivering extended coverage. Prepare and deliver comprehensive weather content for multiple platforms including the Web, social media and streaming channels (Roku, FireTV, Apple TV). Assist management in evaluations of potential new weather data gathering and presentation services. Report live from event sites. Participate in long-term content planning. Help manage weather staff scheduling. Make community appearances as an ambassador of KSTU. You Bring: Bachelor s Degree in communication, climatology or related field, or equivalent years of experience. At least 3-5 years of TV Meteorologist experience. The meteorologist must have NWS and/or AMS seal, or be within one year of obtaining one. Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems. Experience with digital content management systems. Extensive experience with social media content and engagement, including Facebook Live. Knowledge of computer editing systems like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. Strong graphic presentation skills. Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. Must be able to drive for company business and/or in a company vehicle. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
