The United StatesIndustrial Gas (USIG) division of Praxair, Inc. is currently seeking a CONTROL ROOM TECHNICIAN for theInternational Monitoring and Production Assistance Center (IMPAC) in Tonawanda,NY. JOB PURPOSE

The Technician for IMPACwill be responsible to respond to alarms from the 325 + Semi-attendedproduction facilities that report to IMPAC in Tonawanda, New York.


Under minimalsupervision, the Technician for IMPAC will be responsible for the remote operationof On-Site production facilities and various customer supply equipment in acontrol room setting.Semi-attendedplants are monitored and controlled remotely using advanced controlsystems.In addition to plantoperations, one must have good communication skills to manage a variety ofinternal and external phone calls PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITIES * Remotely start, shut down, and operate VPSA, N-Plant, Membrane,and variations of compression equipment in compliance with Safety Policies andProcedures.


Provide technical assistance to field technicians.

Partners with technical support engineers to improve operatingreliability/costs

Must be able tointerpret data and communicate effectively

Must have good oral communication skills to manage a variety of incomingcalls:

Internal and external customers

Crisis Management - Emergency help line to ensure the properemergency response groups are informed

Power Curtailment - Notifications from Power companies across thegrid to reduce power consumption

Customer Service - Installation and maintenance of storage tankand vaporizer systems supplying customers

Quality Assurance - Review of product quality to ensure 100%customer reliability
