The Project Manager, Research Support coordinates and leads efforts in a variety of research activities that are complex and wide in scope. Moreover, the Project Manager, Research Support operates with the goal of ensuring that the collection of data and administration of studies are performed efficiently and in compliance with applicable guidelines.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establish measurable goals and the strategic plans for the Precision Medicine Initiative at Sylvester and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment with goals of Sylvester and UHealth
  • Creates project charters, project plans, and leads project meetings with Sylvester faculty, leadership, external vendors, and UHealth IT to ensure that Precision Medicine Initiative projects are completed to on time and meet end user goals.
  • Manage large scale optimization projects within University of Miami's EPIC environment system that simplifies requests for Next Generation Sequencing, tracks data corresponding to these orders, and improves physicians ability to treat based on molecular results.
  • Manage projects with UHealth IT team to develop a molecular database that provides a scalable solution for storing and querying rich molecular data, generated from sequencing cancer patients to meet Sylvester faculty and Precision Medicine needs.
  • Manage and develop translational research projects with Sylvester faculty that advance knowledge about targeted therapy outcomes and the implementation of precision medicine initiatives at an academic institute
  • Cultivate partnerships with external molecular labs and other academic institutions to bring on new research projects and develop strategic relationships to advance Precision Medicine capabilities at Sylvester.
  • Manage and supervise the Precision Medicine Project Coordinator, who is responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks of the program and executes project plans developed by the Project Manager. Develop this individual, and enhance their career path at the University of Miami.
  • Manage international molecular tumor board partnerships in collaboration with the global oncology program and fulfill precision medicine requests from developing markets
  • Supervise contract negotiations with external partners and lead review of such agreements through legal, privacy, business services, and tech transfer departments
  • Establish protocols and procedures to improve privacy and protection of patients' molecular data
  • Collaborate with University of Miami Communications Department to plan the utilization of Precision Medicine data or projects in marketing campaigns
  • Present Precision medicine research at oncology conferences and represent Sylvester in these public forums


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field required.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
