PEER SPECIALIST I
Peer support specialists will meet with clients individually and provide group discussion in principals of recovery. Peers provide a unique service to program residents with their lived experience in mental health and/or forensic services.
Peer support MUST BE WILLING TO SELF-IDENTIFY as persons with lived experience in mental health, substance abuse and/or forensics and are willing to share their experiences with residents to promote symptom management, recovery and overall wellness
Glassport LTSR is seeking a part-time peer support specialist to cover weekend shifts and one day shift weekly
* Faciltate a weekly peer group with program residents.
* Provide !:1 support sessions with program residents weekly
* Document all interactions in electronic medical record
* Participate in LTSR programming alongsire program residents
* Assist program residenrs with ADL's
* Provide crisis managment as needed
* Provide emergency coverage for next shift when necessary
Peer supports self-identify as persons with lived experience in mental health, substance abuse and/or forensics and are willing to share their experiences with residents to promote symptom management, recovery and overall wellness.
HS or GED minimum
Certified peer specialist preferred, mental health and/or forensic lived experience preferred
RHD Glassport LTSR is a long-term structured residential program serving eligible adult males who are residents of Allegheny County and have been diagnosed with serious mental illness and substance use disorder, or dually-diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Residents may also have a forensic history.
