Womanspace Philadelphia

Located in Germantown, Womanspace Philadelphia (a program of Resources or Human Development) is a 10-bed residential facility providing substance use treatment to women with a history of chronic homelessness. WSP provides evidenced based treatment from a Recovery Model perspective. We value individualized and holistic care and strive to provide a restorative experience for all women who come through our doors.

The program is currently seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Peer Specialist to work with women who have substance use treatment needs along with overlapping medical, familial and mental health needs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The Peer Specialist reports to the Assistant Director/Director, offers regular support and guidance to individuals in treatment and plays an integral role on the treatment team by utilizing lived experience to promote individualized, innovative, and person-centered care.

The Peer Specialist is responsible for:

* engaging regularly with individuals in treatment to provide encouragement and support

* working with residents toward goals identified on the monthly treatment plan

* documenting relevant interactions

* orienting new participants to the program

* accompanying residents to relevant activities in the community

* supporting residents with exploring relevant options for medication assisted treatment

* collecting and maintaining a database of community resources to provide

* assisting with the transition or residents who are leaving treatment

* participation in monthly alumni activities

Appropriate candidates will be compassionate, caring and enthusiastic about our mission, and will possess the desire to interact with individuals creatively through modeling, teaching, assisting, and listening. Ability to support the trauma informed culture and interact with everyone in a respectful and gentle way is a must. Additionally, willingness to work with individuals on medication assisted treatment and support women in all stages of recovery is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

* HS Diploma or GED

* Two years of experience in human service field preferred

* Current PA Certification as a Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification within a year of hire

* Valid Driver s license

* Knowledge of recovery principles and tools

* Ability to model personal integrity, recovery, and hope

* Ability to communicate in written and verbal format

Starting rate is $14-$15 per hour
