Job Description:

Overview:

The Material Handler will sort, classify and handle all donated materials and deliver to various departments.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Assists in loading and unloading of trucks.

  • Packages and bundles material for transporting.

  • Prepares material for delivery to other centers.

  • Assures dock area remains clean, organized and clutter-free.

  • May assist with operation of textile baler and tow motor after equipment training is received, if applicable.  Please Note:  Goodwill prohibits minors (under the age of 18) to operate equipment such as balers, compactors, and forklifts in accordance with the child labor laws.

  • May assist with weighing bales and maintaining baling processing records, if applicable.

  • Provides customer assistance with loading and receiving donations.

  • Works on rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Reports To:  Operations Supervisor, Asst. Dir. of Transportation & Logistics, or Retail Manager.

Requirements:


  • Ability to read and write.

  • Ability of accuracy with record reporting.

  • Displays great customer service by greeting donors and customers; offers assistance.

  • Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs.; occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to perform job requirements with few restrictions; works with minimal supervision.

  • Follows all safety procedures and correct safety issues, if possible.

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
