This position will provide comprehensive electro-mechanical assembly support to Proterra’s Greenville Site Production Supervisor and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of mechanical assembly solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.
About the Role – You will:
Assemble or produce component parts into completed units within blueprint specification and/or design tolerances and provide electrical assistance to Commissioning; Perform minor adjustments, repairs or setups to equipment or machines, and operate required electrical equipment or machines.
Maintain acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety and housekeeping (5S requirements) including proper daily storage of hand tools; Support the department’s preventive maintenance program for shop equipment, tools, fixtures, gauges and machines
Ensure electrical systems are properly integrated with control strategies; Check and verify quality related to the electrical system.
Follow all quality and process standards and guidelines; Inspect work to ensure compliance.
Works closely with mechanical / electrical design group where required and work with product validation group to ensure product is validated to meet system requirements.
Assist in modifying, building and validating harnesses and in wiring and building of functional testing equipment as requested by the Mechanical Engineers; Perform and validate functional test.
Inspect parts or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers or other inspection equipment.
Assemble, align, test and inspect parts to form complete units or subassemblies of a variety of standard products where procedures and methods are prescribed. This may involve many parts, close tolerances and interrelated factors.
Maintain tooling and material accountability, department blueprints, schematics, drawings, production plans, standard manufacturing procedures and station metrics as needed.
Identify part discrepancies and out of the ordinary changes to product or process and attempts to troubleshoot minor issues.
Coordinate with other setup or leader personnel for associate job assignments, or setup personnel for movement of materials or coordination of duties.
Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Greenville based Production team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in Greenville, SC.
You will report to the Site Production Supervisor and collaborate with other Production members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA.

Your Experience Includes:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years’ experience in electro-mechanical assembly/technician type role, installing/assembling components (i.e., bus seats, windows, doors, interior lights, grab bar, and other interior bus fixtures) and mounting front and rear suspension assemblies. Experience in various electrical crimpers, cutting, fitting and measuring as well.
2+ years’ electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience and training others in electrical assembly processes.
2+ years’ experience in assembling the following: electrical assembly operations, mounting battery boxes/disconnect boxes, kitting and assembling energy storage systems, installing wire harnesses, automotive dash assembly, running brake and air lines, mounting HVAC units and radiators to exterior bus roof, mounting energy storage systems, assembling roof fairings, other exterior and electrical bus assembly tasks.
2+ years’ experience or knowledge in bus assembly processes, lean manufacturing concepts, continuous improvement mindset, blueprint reading skills and basic computer skills.
May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.

Associates Degree in related field
2+ years manufacturing assembly experience, preferably in automotive areas
