Accountability Objectives

Under the direction if the HWS North American Supply Chain Manager, this position is accountable for:

  • Coordinate supply and inventory versus demand across 4 U.S. warehousing/distribution locations
  • Plan and execute shipments between these locations using standard freight methods as determined by the global logistics team and using approved premium freight as necessary for exceptions
  • Plan replenishment and inventory levels for accessories business in the Americas to deliver 99% OTIF
  • Coordinate with local manufacturing and supply planning in Cleveland and Mexico and with resources responsible for inbound supply via ocean to support 100% OTIF at both ASL locations (2) and OTIF from the Laredo cross dock and Mogadore distribution facility to support overall BU goal os 99.6% OTIF
  • Maintain inventory (days of supply) within the regional goal to support BU working capital commitments
  • Continuously review slow moving, obsolete items as well as managing conversion or phase out / phase in of existing and new products to minimize non-working inventory
  • Report departmental cost savings related to low cost manufacturing performance using the Degrees of Implementation (DI) system
  • Support administrative reporting related to global supply chain metrics such as Inventory value, days of supply / days on hand, capacity utilization


This position will interact with the following:

  • Location-level supply chain/planning organizations on a daily basis regarding expected supply, allocation of critical production
  • Sales regarding potential customer shortages, backlog, recovery plans and allocation of supply
  • Local finance and supply chain teams for inventory reporting; with roll-up to BU finance
  • Information Systems in the use and improvement of reporting tools

Job Dimensions:

The Distribution Planner is a key role in the Supply Chain organization and will work to balance supply within inventory goals to maximize OTIF. This position will key the day-to-day management of supply and adjustment of production needs across multiple production planning organizations (CLE, HWSM) and balance it with significant incoming supply via ocean from HWSE. This position will be solely responsible for the replenishment and inventory management of the America's accessories business. In addition this position will provide tactical support to the Global Planning Manager for BU-level activities related to weekly inventory and operational reporting.

The key challenges facing this position are ability to manage a complex warehousing & distribution environment in the Americas while coordinating supply from independent production flowpaths. Position must work for the whole Howmet Wheel Systems supply network planning process and will be held accountable to metrics required to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • 3 years of supply chain experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics Business or Finance
  • Strong expertise in Excel, business intelligence systems, database systems desired
