First Solar’s Energy Services unit seeks candidates who believe in our mission of providing cost-advantaged solar services through innovation, customer engagement, industry leadership and operational excellence. Members of the Energy Services team have a direct hand in offsetting carbon emissions from traditional energy sources by ensuring that our customers’ power plants are available and performing at optimal levels. Every year, power plants managed by First Solar produced over 11 terawatt hours of clean, renewable energy.

This is equivalent to powering 1.2 million homes and removing 1.7 million cars from the road. 

The Energy Services team looks for individuals who enjoy contributing to an innovative, forward-thinking team, are effective problem solvers, data and results driven and continuously look for ways to improve processes to help us lead the world’s sustainable energy future.

Education/Experience:         

  • Candidates must meet one of the following criteria to qualify:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience (purchasing, planning/scheduling, and supply chain). 

    • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Supply Chain. Experience with MRP concepts and one or more ERP systems (SAP preferred).

    • Associate degree in a related discipline

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline strongly preferred


Required Skills/Competencies:


  • Proven organizational skills – ability to prioritize.

  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated or familiar with negotiation approaches and methods.

  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for assuring purchasing requisitions and orders are appropriately approved, information is complete, and negotiating prices with assigned vendors.

  • With minimal direction, investigates new suppliers for improved price, delivery and quality.

  • Responsible for proposing and supporting the qualification of new suppliers.

  • Responsible for managing inventory levels of assigned materials.

  • As required, expedite or de-expedite deliveries and change scheduled quantities to meet changes in production or requirements

  • Notify suppliers of quality discrepancies in their incoming material; with internal and supplier experts, support the identification of root cause and assure corrective action; and assure material disposition is appropriate dealt with.

  • Analyses aging purchase orders.

  • Interfaces with many departments and assigned suppliers.

  • Creates/Maintains Master data information.

  • Maintains effective communications levels and fosters team building.

  • Adheres to all First Solar internal processes and procedures, including safety, SOA, ISO9000, SIO14000, and housekeeping standards.
