Scope:

The Training Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the training program, including but not limited to training the testing team on standard Oracle functionality, developing training collaterals for new extensions, planning and overseeing the training of UAT participants and site users.  They will interact with all levels of resources from first line users of the system to senior managers interested in overall operations management, and even to executives who are monitoring project progress.  Although the Training Specialist is not intended to have direct reports, they will be responsible for working with a team of professionals across a variety of disciplines and for providing regular updates to program management.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to manage the delivery of all stages of systems training; particularly as relates to CooperVision’s Oracle ERP solution: OneVision. The role will make a significant contribution to our global business, leading the delivery of learning from scoping work effort through to implementation in the various countries where CooperVision does business.  

The successful candidate will engage with program team, regional and site personnel to develop the curriculum.  They will oversee the creation, localization/translation and deployment of training. They balance a high-energy and enthusiastic personality with a focus on quality.  They work collaboratively with CooperVision and Service Integrator program management, Functional Consultants, 3rd party providers, Test and Deployment Managers, and our site SMEs to ensure successful delivery of our program.  The specialist also provides on-going support after launch, interacting with project and site personnel as needed to keep training material up-to-date and support on-boarding of new people.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:


  • Delivers high quality project training collaterals, working closely with colleagues from other areas of Information Services.

  • Works with 3rd party organizations to deliver specialized training collaterals, as needed.

  • Project manages all aspects of comprehensive learning solutions, including assessing training requirements, sizing and planning work activities, managing delivery and deployment of training, and ensuring effective post-deployment engagements.

  • Provides specialized learning advice through close collaboration with leads and team members.

  • Brings lessons learned from previous work experience to improve the success of our initiative.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising the broader team to maximize learning program benefits while reducing project risks.

The Training Specialist works through indirect team members and vendor-sourced resources.  They will report to the OneVision Oracle Program Manager as a member of the organization delivering solutions.  To effectively support our multi-national deployment, occasionally significant travel should be expected (on average, approximately 25%).

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Significant experience delivering both training and awareness programs

  • Significant experience with technology-enabled change programs particularly those relating to packaged implementations, ERP implementations and large custom build programs

  • Delivery expertise and experience in transformation and change projects

  • Proficiency with leading a team of professionals on asset builds and site engagements

  • Credibility building new stakeholder relationships as well as be able to demonstrate ability to influence senior stakeholders to make business decisions

  • Experience in a manufacturing industry, especially a regulated health care products company.

  • Experience working with and managing learning programs in mixed teams of SME’s, consultants (onshore and offshore) and third parties

  • Experience managing training programs in multiple geographies and / or multiple system solutions simultaneously

  • Experience managing competing agendas / priorities and establish achievable programs / projects

  • This role also requires the following digital competencies:

    • Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK)

    • Experience advising organizations on latest innovations and technologies in learning. 

    • Experience implementing learning technologies (within complex organizations) is preferred.



Work Environment:


  • Extensive contact with employees, external business partners and vendors.

  • Occasional travel, especially aligned with project deployments, off-hour meetings, and some weekend work, as needed to achieve the objectives of the position.

  • Remote working from home when necessary.

Experience:


  • 10 years’ experience of working in an IS environment.

  • 5+ years’ experience leading training teams in a complex organizational environment.

  • Has worked with 3rd party resources to develop and deliver effective training programs.

  • Prior Project Management experience helpful.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience resulting in a solid understanding of job responsibilities is required.
