ImmunityBio (formerly NantCell) develops novel combinations of chemo-immune sensitizers, cell therapies, cytokines, vaccines, neoepitopes, and monoclonal antibody immunotherapies to orchestrate the NK and T Cell response for cancer and infectious diseases.

Research Scientist - (Tumor Immunologist)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a creative and analytical biologist with a proven track record of applying cutting edge cellular and immunological methods useful in assessing cancer immunotherapy approaches. The ideal candidate will be a lab-based Scientist and will work with a small group of skilled technical support staff to carry out experimental programs in immunology and immuno-oncology. The candidate must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a proven track record of achievement in cell biology. This position will provide excellent exposure to the drug discovery and development process in a highly supported, dynamic, and idea-rich environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Design in vitro assays to evaluate immuno-oncology target mechanism-of-action and discover preclinical development candidates

  • Process and maintain an inventory of clinical specimens for immunology-based evaluation.

  • Execute cell-based assays for immunological evaluation of clinical specimens.

  • Provide scientific guidance to the immuno-oncology pipeline.

  • Prepare and present materials for scientific, business, and external meetings.

  • Contribute to patent application filings.

  • Author publications and contributes to regulatory document research report generation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Ph.D. in immunology or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated success and technical proficiency in primary cell-based assays.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES


  • Critically analyze, interpret, and report experimental results, draw appropriate conclusions and design next steps

  • Collaborate with scientific staff in the design and execution of experiments to evaluate therapeutic candidates and establish proof-of-biology

  • Scientific domain expertise in tumor and cell biology.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast-changing environment. Results orientated.

  • Critical observation skills and strong statistical analysis capabilities.

  • Excellent oral, presentation, and scientific/technical writing skills.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Working environment is within an approximately 2,000 square foot lab space equipped with biosafety cabinets for mammalian cell culture and equipment sufficient to complete the tasks described above.

  • Occasionally: Transporting small equipment required.
