Summary of Role

Support the day to day activities of the Association’s corporate governance activities including initiatives related to the governing AICPA Council, the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants Board of Directors and its 5 committees, volunteer services for 150+ committees, AICPA Appointments Committee, the Association’s Nominations Committee and the AICPA Awards Committee.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a back-up day-to-day contact for the Board’s Senior Member Leaders (e.g., Chair of the Board, Vice Chair) working with the COO, executive team and CEOs to drive successful strategic outcomes for the Board, AICPA Council and volunteer management program

  • Support ongoing requirements and maintenance of the enterprise wide web-based volunteer system.

  • Support, plan and execute the global Nominations Committee meeting working with the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors. Support the development of the agenda and all pre-meeting materials including reports, presentations and research for 3500 volunteers across the globe

  • Extract and analyze data from the Volunteer Central database to create numerous reports for leadership, staff liaisons, State Society Executives and firm representatives.

  • Support volunteer recommendations (for continuing volunteers and new volunteers) from key stakeholders (e.g. CEOs of State CPA Societies, Top 80 Public Accounting Firms Managing Partners and CEO, and all committee Chairs/Liaisons of the 150 Committees)

  • Support the development of multiple reports in support of the annual Volunteer Appointments meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Vice Chairman, the Immediate Past Chairman, Vice Chair Elect and President & CEO. Assist with the execution of the all-day annual Appointments meeting with the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board and the CEO.

  • Serve as the secondary liaison to the AICPA Awards Committee. Work directly with the Chairman of the Awards Committee to develop agendas, execute meetings and coach volunteers.


Association Board and AICPA Council Management

  • Assist with all Senior Member Leaders speaking engagements for AICPA and US-based requests. Collaborate with the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Vice Chairman, the Immediate Past Chairman and the Vice Chair Elect on all speaking requests and schedule.  Coordinate with colleagues on non-US engagements

  • Assist with the formulation of the Nominations Committee materials for AICPA Council, including the official Report and the presentation the Chairman of the Nominations Committee delivers to 265 Council members.

  • Support management of Board of Directors and Council planning processes and initiatives including preparation of materials, program development and maintenance of minutes.

  • Resolve issues and managing the governance function, including meeting logistics and planning for Board, Council, Regional Council, any other key member meetings.

  • Able to make independent decisions impacting the volunteers and team operations

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex programs, involving key stakeholders including members

  • Project/program management skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Proficient knowledge of web based and relational database technology

  • Understanding of membership associations, accounting profession, and professional services

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Foster stakeholder relationships. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, teams, members and staff at all levels of the organization

  • Analyse solutions using technical experience, judgement and precedents

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
