AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for an in-house legal assistant to work in our West Hills Staff Counsel office.
Provide legal assistant support to 2-3 workers' compensation attorneys with a case load of 80 files per attorney
Identify critical documents requiring timely responses and associated deadlines to ensure our clients/insureds/Company are protected from sanctions and unnecessary litigation
Manage and prioritize competing deadlines
Communicate with claim partners, clients, witnesses, court, opposing counsel, vendors, and team members
Coordinate/schedule meetings, hearings, appointments, and depositions
Generate draft templates (pleadings, motions, objections, correspondence) for attorney review and approval
Maintain data integrity in a document management platform supporting our paperless environment (documents, parties, roles/relations, naming conventions)
E-file structured and unstructured documents in EAMS along with the service of same documents on all interested/appropriate parties
Assemble medical packets to experts along with itemized schedule of records
Timely transmit and request payments to vendors, experts, etc.
Provide office support as needed (place tickets for failing equipment, assist peers as needed and during PTO)
Experience with a document management platform (TeamConnect a plus)
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1+ years' experience preferred
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to type a min. of 70 wpm and must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Must have prior workers' compensation experience supporting multiple attorneys and competing deadlines
Ability to coordinate and maintain attorney calendars
Organized, self- motivated, with ability to prioritize and work independently
Support a paperless environment
Work in a team environment with a positive respectful attitude
Experienced in preparation of pleadings including, but not limited to Declaration of Readiness to Proceed, Panel Requests, Pleadings, Objections, Proof of Services, etc.
Knowledge of EAMS and the Public Search for party/injury information
Exceptional attention to details and the production of professional work product
