Job Description:

The CHEMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING MANAGER will coordinate and supervise the activities and operations of the chemical and environmental processes within the plant with a focus on Safety, Quality, Productivity, Spoilage, and Cost. This position will report directly to the plant manager.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chemical and environmental processes of the plant include:

Washers

Coolant System

Wastewater Treatment

Water systems (DI/ Soft/ City)

Oil separation systems

Bulk Chemical storage systems

Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer System (RTO)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions and performing monthly safety inspections of the plant s chemical and environmental processes.

Oversight and direct responsibility for EHS activities and personnel.

Champion the plant sustainability program and document activities that support Crowns Twentyby30 initiatives.

Responsible for ensuring round the clock efficient operations for the chemical and environmental processes within the plant.

Establish maintenance procedures and SOPs on all major equipment in the department, including planning, budgeting, execution, and periodic review.

Diagnoses problem areas and develop and implement corrective action plans.

Collect and organize data to generate and maintain reports and schedules to comply with all State and Federal laws and reporting requirements.

Ensure that all supplies and materials are maintained at adequate levels to insure continuous operation.

Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.

Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by the EC. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes. Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Knowledge:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.

Experience Required:

5+ years experience in the field

5+ years experience supervising employees

Competencies:

Progressive experience in manufacturing, including roles leading others in Production, Technical operations preferred.

Prior experience in filling, beverage filling, high-speed consumer products manufacturing, or high-speed dosing preferred.

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies & tools.

Demonstrated project management skills on cross functional initiatives.

Experience in root cause and/or root cause trend analysis.

Demonstrated ability to use data for creative problem solving.

Creativity in developing new ways of working / methodology.

Good analytical skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, clear communicator, and demonstrated relationship building skills.

Able to interact with a wide variety of contacts, both internal and external.

Talented influencer and team builder. Can form a team without official authority to do so, and motivate that team to accomplish self-directed goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may sit, climb or balance, talk or hear. The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock or vibration. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud. Working Conditions:

Working with high speed automated machines and equipment in a manufacturing plant producing aluminum cans for the beverage industry.

The plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Will have constant pressure to produce high quality cans and to keep the production line operating.

Extreme climate conditions when hot or cold outside.

While performing duties, the team member regularly works near moving mechanical parts.

The team member frequently works in high, precarious places and may frequently be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
