Prototype & Off-hull Mechanical Engineering is looking
for a qualified professional to work in the Submarine
Power Plant Mechanical subdivision of Fleet Power Plant
Engineering. Prototype & Off-hull Mechanical Engineering
provides design support for Kesselring Site prototype
propulsion plant and support systems. This position
contributes directly to the training mission and
provides opportunities to introduce and implement
process and product improvements, as well as to
contribute to the development of innovative new
technologies. Working with the Kesselring Site
prototypes affords many opportunities to see the
connection between your efforts and the Naval Nuclear
Propulsion Program mission at the deckplate level.
Duties include resolution of emergent problems as well
as longer term design and development of reactor plant
and industrial support system upgrades and new equipment
installations. Efforts will include thorough research of
historical perspectives, performance of engineering
evaluations and analyses, coordination and integration
of cognizant technical organizations across the Lab,
effective decision making for all engineering aspects of
assigned tasks, and clear and concise communication of
results. Work may include chemical or materials
evaluations, design reviews, operations support, safety
analysis, and engineering evaluation of vendor
procedures and systems. Successful candidates will be
able to execute in a multidisciplinary environment,
quickly process and assess data in real time, and
leverage a fundamental understanding of fluid mechanical
systems.

Requirements:
Intermediate:
* BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a
science related field from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience; or
* MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a
science related field from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of one year of relevant
experience; or
* Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the
Nuclear Operations Program; or
* SRE Qualification
Advanced:
* BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a
science related field from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience; or
* MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a
science related field from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience; or
* Currently or previously NPE qualified or CTE/ACRS
and one year of EOOW in the Nuclear Operations
Program; or
* Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area
Refueling Engineer and one year as SR
