Material Handler Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Material Handler manually moves freight, stock and raw materials or perform other general labor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, by forklift or other equipment or means.
* Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
* Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them.
* Read dispatch lists and work orders to determine work assignment or material/equipment needs. Document Lot Numbers on work orders in order to maintain traceability.
* Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in applicable locations.
* Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
* Receive and count stock items, and record data using ERP system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


* High School diploma or equivalent.
* One to three years of experience desired in a manufacturing environment.
* Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by management.

* As a member of the Quality Management System, quality procedures, requirements, work instructions, and other required documentation must be followed. Team members are responsible to be aware of the company's quality policy and quality objectives to support the continuous improvement projects and contribute to the overall mission of the organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


* Works primarily in a climate controlled manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, and fumes with moderate noise. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
* Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, and reaching.
* PPE required may include safety glasses and gloves in designated areas of the facility.
