Job Summary:

The die cutter operator is required to perform manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance, and operations of the die cutter. While operating that machine, they are responsible to run quality at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime. The machine operator is the leader of the crew and oversees the activities of the operator assistants, feeders, packers, and inspectors working on that machine. The operator must obtain and review the job ticket for items, quantities, caliper of the board and any special instruction that is informational for running the order. The case packing specification must also be reviewed to make sure that all the instructions are clear and concise prior to running the order. The operator is responsible for ensuring that all make readies are put on as quickly as possible. The operator inspects for product quality and ensures that the machine is in good running condition. The operator is also responsible for shutting down the machine if it is to be left unattended. All employees must follow all safety procedures and policies. The job functions include but are not limited to the following:

* Make-ready, adjust and run job as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards.

* Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications and special die cutting instructions

* Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects

* Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality

* Ensure information is communicated between shifts

* Ensure Company Safety, Quality and Production standards are met

* Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter

* Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders.

* Must input information into computer for proper tracking of inventory and waste.

* Occasional squatting and kneeling for cleaning and clearing jams

Required Skills

* Self-sufficient and cost effectively perform all required cutting functions.

* Must have extensive knowledge for identification and working knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.

* Ability to troubleshoot, adjust and debug to finalize majority of machine lines required in house or at the customers facility.

* Trained and knowledgeable in mechanical assembly standards, engineering standards, other applicable procedures and parts flow.

* Strong Leadership abilities.

Preferred Experience/Education:

* Heavy mechanical / operator level skills in a manufacturing environment.

* High School Diploma preferred.

* Knowledge to operate Bobst 1420, Bobst SP-142 CER, Bobst SP142 and Bobst SP102-E11.

* Math and computer skills.

* 7-10 years of related manufacturing focus experience in a converting facility or similar type preferred.

* Experience working in fast pace manufacturing environment.

* Experience working under minimal supervision and able to set up the die-cutter and carry out instructions.

Essential Job Functions:

* Frequent/strenuous physical effort (lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.

* Must be able to push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.

* Frequently exposed to conditions involving noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals.

* Must be able to work in areas of fluctuating temperatures.
