Responsibilities
This is a full time, contract position with an end date of March 31, 2022. The Lab Research Supervisor II provides professional level research support to the principal investigators and serves as project manager for the NIH-funded research project, ORALE COVID-19!: Organizaciones para Reducir, Avanzar y Lograr Equidad contra el COVID-19 (Organizations to Reduce, and to Advance, and Lead for Equity against COVID-19). This position will be responsible for coordination and collaboration across the community-based organizations, the research staff and the Investigators at UC Davis.

The Lab Research Supervisor II supports a COVID-19 mobile testing unit, located in two vans, that will rotate locations throughout the Central Valley of California, and a large scale survey study on the impacts of COVID-19, as well as the follow-up of testing, and the educational activiites throughout the Central Valley within the Latinx population. This position will supervise all activities of the COVID-19 testing units, and be located in the Central Valley of California. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned study, supervise all staff working on the study, and liaise between the investigators, staff, community partners and study participants.

Required Qualifications

* This position requires specific knowledge of research methods in epidemiology and population-based research

* Requires either a PhD in epidemiology or related field; or a master s degree or equivalent coursework combined with at least 1 year of experience; or a bachelor s degree with 3 or more years of specific experience in and knowledge of: Research methods; planning and study design; epidemiologic data analysis; design and implementation of questionnaires and other instruments; quality assurance, quality control; critical appraisal of published research; IRB and HIPAA requirements

* Demonstrated experience dealing with cultural sensitivity and discretion in regard to Latina and other racial/ethnic groups and indigenous and immigrant populations, as well as collaborators

* Demonstrated experience writing and assembling reports, construct questionnaires, create and interpret tabulations of data, and conduct literature reviews

* Demonstrated project management, research and data skills

* Fluency in Spanish language (reading, writing and oral communication) is required

* Supervisory skills and experience to recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems and conflicts and build an effective service-oriented environment

* Experience and ability in writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and in preparation of grant proposals is desirable.

* Excellent knowledge of computer applications and proficiency with: Electronic communication; spreadsheets; library management (Endnote); on-line information (Internet Search Engines); literature services (PubMed, etc.); Word processing and graphics programs

* Experience with statistical software packages, including SAS, Stata or equivalent, is desirable.

* Strong organizational, prioritization, planning and communication skills

* Demonstrated experience on community engagement working with community organizations such as non-profits, NGOs, etc. to conduct research projects

* Experience managing several disparate aspects of the research project simultaneously

* Demonstrated experience interacting with professionals in multiple disciplines

* Ability to have self-direction in a team environment

* Able to exercise good judgment in difficult situations involving study staff, study participants, investigators, consultants, and media

* Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse (Latinx) populations

* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

* Able to work independently and to pay attention both to details and to the broader picture

* Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly both orally and in writing to academic and lay audiences

* Excellent writing skills


Special Requirements

* California Driver s License required. Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program

* Travel throughout the Central Valley up to the Sacramento region will be required.

* Travel may include overnight stays
