The primary purpose of your job is to provide a clean, well kept, and safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
ROUTINE ASSIGNMENTS
Performs daily cleaning assignments per schedule or as assigned.
Selects material or supplies from storage, Maintains OR HSK supply list. Places orders directly on PeopleSoft.
Keeps her/his equipment and work space neat, clean and safe.
Places soiled linens and trash in the proper location for disposal.
Thoroughly cleans all spaces per written procedure including OR terminal cleaning per AORN standards.
Arranges furniture, makes beds as required.
Must be able to mix chemicals per labeled instruction (being able to read English).
Terminally cleans operating theater at the end of each day and/or as needed per AORN standards.
Cleans and makes up ASU stretchers between patients.
Cleans instruments as assigned.
Cleans ASU/PACU rooms between patients.
Cleans ASU/PACU terminally per AORN standards as needed.
Transports patients as needed (after training).
Available for call-in as needed.
ACCOUNTABILITY: INVENTORY AND SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION/STORAGE
Develops and maintains knowledge of all equipment and supplies in C.S.R.
Checks, folds and stores paper and linen wraps used for packaging supplies.
Cleans and checks all equipment. Central Service is responsible for limited responsibility in CSR but completes assignments.
Checks for outdated supplies on a weekly basis.
ACCOUNTABILITY: STERILIZATION VIA STEAM AND ETO
Develops and maintains knowledge of fundamentals of cleaning and principles of sterilization including knowledge of aseptic technique.
Cleans and prepares items for the appropriate sterilization process.
Performs a weekly biological indicator test in each sterilizer and records results as policy indicates.
ACCOUNTABILITY: STERILIZATION VIA SYBRON AND 3M STERILIZERS
Develops and maintains knowledge of storage principles for sterile and non-sterile items used, including knowledge of aseptic technique.
Cleans and prepares items for sterilization and sterilizes them.
Runs tests with spore strips in each sterilizer once a week. File results in appropriate file box chronologically.
ACCOUNTABILITY: MAINTAINS ASSIGNED AREAS/SUPPLIES
Keeps all shelves and work areas clean.
Inventories and maintains surgical dressing cart on Acute Care.
Cleans and checks I.V. pumps.
Accountable for wheelchair location and parts.
ACCOUNTABILITY: QUALITY OF WORK
Adheres to dress code and wears identification pin.
Demonstrates organizational skills in providing ability to adapt to changing workloads.
Daily assignments are completed within an eight hour shift.
Maintains open communication channels with all colleagues and supervisors.
Communicates factual and pertinent information to needed parties.

Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities for self growth.
Uses and shares skills with others in the department.
Attends mandatory staff meetings unless excused by the Department Manager.
Has completed annual policy and procedure review.
Has attended mandatory in-service for Fire & Safety and Infection Control.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate
EXPERIENCE:
Cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces to ensure a clean environment for patient safety.
Experience with terminal cleans (cleaning the ceilings, walls and all surfaces) in the operating room.
