Job Description
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Travel + Leisure Associate Editor supports senior editorial staff in the preparation, execution, and tracking of editorial content across the brand's print, digital, and social platforms. The editor plays a critical role in the magazine's Upgrade section and the annual A-List, T+L's curated guide to the world's top travel advisors, as well as several other annual T+L franchises. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills and feel comfortable moving balancing monthly print responsibilities with daily digital tasks. Some background in travel editorial is a plus; a passion for travel is a must.

II. Essential Job Functions

Working closely with a senior editor, generate monthly ideas for the monthly Upgrade section of travel strategies.

Working with same editor, serve as administrator for the A-List, T+L's collection of top travel advisors, including managing the application process and digital content creation around advisors, while helping write the annual print guide.

Provide research and organizational support on other T+L franchises, including World's Best, Where to Go, and Destination of the Year

Generate weekly story ideas for T+L's website based on trending news topics and current traffic-generating subjects.

Pitch and edit news and service-focused stories for other parts of the magazine's FOB.

Maintain relationships with travel publicists and other industry figures, while representing T+L at events.

Manage T+L's entries into industry awards programs, including the ASMEs.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
BA or BS; or equivalent years of experience and/or training.
Experience:
One to two years of experience working for a magazine, newspaper or digital editorial entity.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to work independently, managing your own projects.
* Strong writing and line-editing skills, with some awareness for best practices in publishing to print and digital.
* A passion for travel and magazines.
