Associate Scientist - In vitro Biology







Your role:

At EMD Serono in Billerica, MA, we have an opening for an Associate Scientist to join the ImmunoOncology Translational Innovation Platform. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team to support the discovery of novel cancer immunotherapies. In this role, the Associate Scientist is expected to develop and conduct cellular immune assays to characterize small molecules or biologics that modulate the tumor immune environment and enhance the anti-tumor immune response. He/she will also have the opportunity to learn new skills in an innovative environment and to expand knowledge in immuno-oncology and drug discovery.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Immunology, Oncology, Biology or other related Science discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in in immunology or related field with at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting

- Master's degree in immunology or related field with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting

- Hands on experience with cell/tissues culture techniques and isolation of human primary cells

- Hands on experience with immuno- and molecular biology assays set-up (e.g. ELISA, Luminex, Q-PCR, Western Blot, etc.)

- Hands on experience with flow cytometry, understanding of flow cytometry principles and data analysis

- Good understanding and working knowledge with isolation and manipulation of human blood cells, in vitro T cell/DCs functional assays

- Efficient time management and multitasking, punctuality and good organizing skills

- Ability to independently plan and design experiments

- Develop, optimize, and establish biochemical and cellular immune assays, excellent attention to details

- Effectively record and report scientific results and interpret study observations

- Multi-task with effective written and verbal communication skills

- Participate and thrive in an interactive, dynamic, team-oriented culture
