Mission Statement:
Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics exists to provide the necessary care for people needing orthotics, prosthetics, seating positioning or adaptive equipment to maximize their physical independence.
Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the O&P Lab supervisors and managers, learn and apply plaster pouring, molding and plastic forming as needed. And other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
Training you will receive:
- Learn to mix plaster and form plastics.
- Learn and fabricate, under supervision, assigned casts or projects according to measurements, model specifications and layouts within the lab.
- Operates machinery such as drill presses, ovens, cutters, grinders and polishers.
- Learn to receive in new work and process orders through cast filling.
- Learn to correct and fill negative molds and strip same.
- Develop ability to modify molds for custom braces.
- Assists in inventories of supplies and equipment. Dispenses supplies as directed by Manger or Supervisor.
- Assists with delivery and pickup of supplies, Orthotic and Prosthetics.
- Performs routine cleaning of laboratory and equipment.
- Maintains patient records by noting repairs completed to orthoses or prostheses
Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to follow detailed directions, use tools, and work well with people.
Other Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Experience in metal, wood, leather, and plastics are desirable. But, not a must.
