The team
The Legal team helps DocuSign achieve strategic goals, manage legal risk, and preserve the legal and ethical integrity of the company. We are regularly involved in critical, complex operations, and partner across the business to solve challenging problems to support our growth and progress globally. We focus on providing thorough analysis and offer legal advice to foster sound decision-making and ensuring compliance with legal and other relevant standards and certifications.

This position
As Legal Counsel in the Product, IP and Regulatory Affairs Group, you are a highly qualified attorney with substantial product and transactional experience in a SaaS company. You are a trusted advisor to the business and support highly visible, complex product integrations (including in-product third party licensing) and other partner transactions. You have strong drafting, negotiation and time & transaction management skills. You are fearless in leading complex enterprise transactions and if you have experience with sophisticated data analysis, it is a strong plus.

This position is an Individual Contributor and reports to the Product Legal Director.

Responsibilities

- Draft and negotiate platform integration agreements for customer and partner SaaS offerings.

- Work cross-functionally to define and develop US, international partner and channel programs and related corporate policies, procedures and programs, as well as legal templates and training.

- Work with Product and Engineering leadership to build and maintain inventory of in-product third party software.

- Work with M&A team to diligence acquisition target product vendors and risks.

Basic Qualifications

- J.D. from an accredited law school. Admitted and in good standing with at least one state bar

- 5+ years of technology transactional experience.

- Understanding of cloud and software industries, including SaaS model, and a strong desire to work on tough legal issues in these areas. Experience in negotiating, drafting and advising business on technology-related integrations and licensing, including multi-jurisdictional transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong understanding of data usage, privacy and data security, particularly with SaaS products.

- Experience in a global technology organization.

- Strong commercial experience with channel/partners.

- Team attitude that no job is too big or too small.

- Proven ability to address complex problems and business needs while reasonably balancing legal risks.

- Ability to build strong relationships quickly and interact with all levels of the business with ease.

- Great judgment, attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated teaming ability to work well with, influence, and inform diverse groups, including peers and clients.

- Dedicated to providing top-notch customer service and possessing strong interpersonal skills.

- Strong work ethic and the highest level of integrity and business ethics.
