Job Description:



  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Reports to the Director. Serves as an administrative resource for all staff and Managers during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Makes administrative decisions that directly affect patient care in various areas. Provides direction for problem-solving activities. Ensures that there is adequate functioning of the various departments within the hospital. Serves as a representative of the Nursing areas and acts as a liaison with other departments. Facilitates patient flow by appropriately allocating resources with pre-defined protocols and systems.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education and Experience
      • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. A current RN license in Indiana, five to seven years of progressively more responsible job-related experience and CPR certification is required. Experience in a critical care area and ACLS certification is preferred.



    • Knowledge & Skills

      • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Nursing care practices, policies, procedures and techniques in order to function as a resource to staff in the review and evaluation of the quality of care provided and in communication of pertinent feedback.


      • Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to prioritize a large volume of information, relay information to the appropriate people and make independent judgments and decisions involving complex patient care, staff, physicians and/or family/visitor situations.


      • Demonstrates leadership skills necessary to coordinate activities of staff.


      • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to represent Memorial in a professional manner and effectively interact with and motivate team members.


      • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; also must be able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, sometimes under stressful conditions, with people from a variety of backgrounds.




    • Working Conditions
      • Works with staff, patients, Physicians and others with frequent changes in job demands and a remote possibility of exposure to bio-hazards.



    • Physical Demands
      • Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
