We are seeking a qualified Interior Designer to serve as a project manager overseeing office space build-outs, reconfigurations, and management for the CBP Mission Support Facilities Program Management Office. This position provides support in management, control, coordination, and execution of projects involving complex and long-term leasing, space acquisition, and/or construction management. Candidates should be well-rounded, effective communicators able to work independently and meet aggressive deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop design strategies for new construction projects and renovation of existing building interiors.
  • Provide architectural and space planning solutions that include preparation of architectural drawings
  • Perform review of design intent drawings
  • Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specifications and material selection required for construction.
  • Produce AutoCAD construction drawings and perform support functions as directed to meet the budget, schedule and project design goals.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure compliance with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and safety, and Agency requirements.
  • Gather project requirements; build estimates, develop schedules, and execute projects.
  • Develop project briefings and presentations for senior management.
  • Maintain and organize project files, invoices, estimates, and vendor information.
  • Investigate and resolve facility construction and renovation issues

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position has no supervisory or management authority

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • 5 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience or familiarity with furniture procurement and installation
  • Experience coordinating the following facility planning requirements:

  • IT
  • Security
  • Furniture procurement and configuration
  • Construction

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with MS Project
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust Background Investigation

Desired:


  • BS in Architecture or Interior Design desired
  • PMP Certification desired
  • Knowledge/experience with various planning concepts to include office hoteling, desk sharing, and team sharing areas
  • Experience working as a contractor for federal agencies, specifically Department of Homeland Security

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of this work is conducted in an office environment. Extensive local travel within the National Capital Region will be required to oversee various projects.
