Financial Analyst at Capital BlueCross in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for financial planning, analysis and projections for Capital BlueCross and its subsidiaries. This position also has a role in cost allocations and certain financial reporting.

Position Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst will leverage their accounting, finance and business experience to assess historical financial data, assist in predicting future results and as well as drive  process improvements. Reporting on financial performance and preparation for regular leadership reviews.  This typically involves:

• Performing financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking


• Analyzing past results, performing variance analysis, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvements


• Working closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support 


• Evaluating financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts


• Guiding cost analysis process


• Recommending actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials


• Identifying and driving process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports and tools  


• Increasing productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools

Job Requirements

• Good analytical and data gathering skills


• 0-3+ years of business finance or other relevant experience


• BA, BS or BCom degree preferred (Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics)


• Good interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to build productive relationships.


• Good business acumen, Knowledge of financial modeling and techniques


• Self-starter with the ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow


• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required; familiarity with data query/data management tools extremely helpful (Access)


• Strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models


• Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
  


• Good interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills


• Comfort dealing with ambiguity and ability to work independently
