Job Description:

As a Laboratory Animal Medicine Diagnostic Support Veterinarian at IDEXX BioAnalytics you will work with a dynamic team of veterinary scientists to support the mission of providing high quality diagnostic services to the biomedical research community. You will consult with clients regarding collection of samples from laboratory animals, sample submissions, diagnostic test results and interpret and participate in Research & Development. You may also consult with clients regarding best practices for developing institutional laboratory animal health monitoring programs. You will present seminars at regional, state, national, and international conferences on IDEXX BioAnalytics products, services or research, and assist in preparing technical and educational materials for client distribution. You will also support developing scientific materials and presentations for marketing and sales activities.

In this role you will:
- Consult with clients regarding sample submissions, interpretation of diagnostic test results, and appropriate follow-up testing.
- Design and develop scientific white papers or manuscripts and present scientific seminars at conferences and client meetings.
- Provide scientific expertise at client meetings and trade shows.
- Design, develop and deliver training sales materials and seminars to sales & marketing teams.
- Support IDEXX BioAnalytics marketing and sales teams by providing scientific expertise.
- Participate in scientific research & development activities with other IDEXX BioAnalytics Scientists.
- Other duties as assigned.

What you will need to succeed:

EDUCATION:
- DVM required
- Board eligible or board certification required in one or more veterinary specialties (e.g., laboratory animal medicine - DACLAM, pathology - DAVCP, etc.)

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3+ years experience post-DVM.
- Experience in veterinary diagnostics is preferred.
- Experience in effective public speaking
- Experience in technical writing

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of laboratory animal medicine, diagnostic techniques, and the scientific process.
- Verbal/written/interpersonal communication skills to speak to clients or groups of clients, employees and management.
- Familiarity with current topics and issues in laboratory animal medicine and animal-based research.
- Must possess a demonstrated service oriented attitude.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to gain in-depth understanding of the technology behind a variety of diagnostic testing.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills, professional integrity, a solid work ethic.
- High level of self-motivation - ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Computer skills, or ability and desire to learn required skills, are necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Extensive sitting, phone and computer use.
- Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate via telephone and in person.
- Weekend hours may be required.
- 10-20% travel will be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- General office environment.
- Normal office noise level, with occasional moderate noise
