Summary:
Consults with nursing and medical staff regarding prescriptions, orders, drug and pharmaceutical detail, patient reactions, errors, and complaints.Provides prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals.Compounds medications, according to professional standards and practices. Conducts Drug Utilization Reviews and prepares Drug Review Criteria for medical staff review and approval.Monitors drug therapy as assigned by medical staff. Suggests alternate drug therapy as appropriate.
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area and the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.

- The Pavilion and the Critical Care Center house a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites.

- Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team

The Pavilion at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline houses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network, which was recently recognized as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States. The Heart Institute offers the most advanced diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location.
Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Program, PharmD required
- ACPE approved 20-hour sterile products course
- Must display excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Preferred completion of ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency or fellowship, or, five years of hospital experience preferred
- Knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices
- Registered Pharmacist license with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Pharmacy preceptor certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer
