We are recruiting for an EHS Coordinator – Industrial Hygiene for our Ave Maria, FL manufacturing location. The EHS Coordinator – Industrial Hygiene provides technical and operational support under the guidance of more senior staff.  Core objectives are to support each business location related to the identification of potential hazards, evaluation of existing practices, and the development and implementation of controls to ensure a healthful and productive environment.  This position supports all areas of the Arthrex Environmental, Health and Safety Management System as needed.  The successful candidate will have strong communication skills along with three years of experience in occupational safety & health and a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety or related discipline. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Identify, evaluate and control potential exposures that may cause harm to employees.

  • Maintain accurate documentation within the EH&S work-center folders. 

  • Perform hazard analysis inclusive of air monitoring of complex chemical compounds found in both manufacturing and laboratory environments.

  • Support occupational health programs including Thermoluminescient Dosimetry and Audiometric monitoring.

  • Perform detailed noise evaluations to ensure proper controls.

  • Provide support to the Laser Safety Officer.

  • Participate in the Hazardous Materials Response Team

  • Conduct industrial ergonomic evaluations and recommend corrective actions to minimize musculoskeletal disorders.

  • Evaluate and monitor ventilation systems in manufacturing and laboratory settings.

  • Conduct detailed post incident and near miss investigations to determine root cause and contributing factors.

  • Track and oversee the timely completion of EH&S related action items.

  • Assure all records and reports are submitted in a timely manner.

  • Assist in developing EH&S training programs.

  • Support all areas of the Arthrex Environmental, Health and Safety Program to maintain compliance with applicable OSHA and EPA Regulations and established procedures.

  • Must have flexible hours with occasional evening and weekend work.

  • Travel occasionally both local and abroad as necessary.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety or related discipline required.

  • 3 years of experience in occupational safety & health required.

  • Experience in manufacturing or medical device industry is preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements / Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


  • Must maintain qualifications to serve at the OSHA HazMat Specialist Level.


  • Must complete First Aid, CPR and AED certification and be willing and capable to provide first aid to others.

  • Has the knowledge and skills necessary to interpret regulations, permits, and other technical data.


  • Works in a timely, organized manner, prioritizing workload and assignments

  • Competency in sample collection methodologies.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:


  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.

  • Operation of specialty environmental monitoring devices & software.

Reasoning Ability:


  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently to solve complex human or environmental issues.

  • Ability to read and interpret federal and state regulations.

Mathematical Skills:


  • Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language and Communication Skills:


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to successfully implement ideas, concepts and programs to other team members and management.

  • Ability to give group presentations in a comfortable, professional and confident manner

  • Effective business communication writing skills.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The area that this job is performed in is a general office, warehouse and manufacturing environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme temperatures, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
