We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual. The candidate will be responsible for leading and completing food safety projects in a timely manner, and working with key contract manufactures to effectively conduct consumer complaint investigation with trend and resolution. The role will also be responsible for monitoring key pre-prerequisite Food Safety & Quality programs, including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) program. The candidate will develop and implement Good Distribution Practices for warehouses and transportation carriers. The position requires knowledge of key Identity Preserved certifications, such as Gluten Free.
Responsibilities:
Act as the subject matter expert of foreign material prevention, detection and resolution to identify and implement a robust physical hazard prevention program including investigation of best in class technology appropriate to the B&G processes and production lines
Track and trend monthly consumer complaints to identify key improvements for Food Safety. Presents results in a concise manner
Lead consumer complaints with key contract manufacturing facilities with appropriate root cause investigation for completion
Conduct Food Safety and Quality audits to establish baseline compliance for warehouses (dry and frozen storage warehouses) of the North America B&G Foods network
Establish the Good Distribution Practices to ensure warehouses and transportation carriers meet and maintain compliance to Food Safety & Quality requirements
Investigate product quality and/or system failures at the warehouse and/or transportation level and work with Supply Chain to determine root cause for corrective action and resolution
Manage the Gluten Free program (self-claim and GFCO certification) to ensure B&G Foods compliance
Work cross functionally with key internal partners (e.g. Regulatory, Marketing, R&D, internal and external facilities) to ensure Gluten Free compliance (both self-claim and GFCO)
Conduct Food Safety risk assessment with Food Safety/Quality Managers and/or Copacker Compliance Manager to ensure a program is in place to minimize cross-contact
Coordinate gluten free testing for compliance and based on risk frequency assessment (both self-claim and GFCO)
Act as the liaison and main contact with GFCO
Maintain GFCO certified products up to date
Work with B&G owned and contracted facilities
Other duties as assigned such as support and advance the monitoring programs (e.g. Certificate of Analysis, compliance to specification, HACCP/Foods Safety Plan preventive controls)
Facilitate the resolution of non-conforming products/processes with key co-packers when necessary
Support and participate in product cutting evaluation of branded products and competitive products
Experience/Skills/Education:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Food Science/Food Technology/Biology/or Engineering
3-5 years of Food Safety & Quality experience within a Food Manufacturing environment required
Experience with GMPs, GDPs, HACCP/Food Safety Plan, SQF (or other GFSI), Sanitation & Pest Control
Audit experience
Knowledge of the FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) a plus
Evaluate processing difficulties and recommend corrective action
