Job Description:

PPOSBC has a brand new opportunity for a full time Accounting Manager to join us!

Supervises a dynamic team of accounting professionals, including training and coaching for performance improvement and development.  Provides leadership and works with staff to create a high performance, service-oriented work environment that supports the company’s mission. Directly supervises Lead Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounts Payable team in the day to day operations of one or more accounting functions, including reconciliation of income, expense and balance sheet accounts; maintenance of reconciliation for subsidiary ledgers, e.g. accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll, as well as associated analysis and reporting. Supervise the Accounts Payable functions of c3 and c4. Approve journal entries posted in the accounting system. Oversees calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. Maintains the integrity of accounting records by ensuring that staff complies with organization accounting policies and procedures. Assists with grant invoicing and grant accounting. Assists with record keeping for the C4 & PAC. Responsible for resource sharing calculations for various entities.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:  Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.


  • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing reconciliations of income, expense and balance sheet accounts for C3 and C4 entities.

  • Prepare and/or review financial statements and variance analysis for C3 and C4 entities.

  • Must be able to present complex financial information in a form that is understandable to non-specialists. Must be able to communicate information orally and in the form of presentations or written reports.

  • Conduct financial analysis on health center expenses on a monthly basis to ensure its accuracy and completeness.

  • Responsible for reviewing monthly journal entries.

  • Perform technical accounting research and prepare memos/white paper write-up of results and analysis.

  • Oversee the Lead Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounts Payable staff. Must be able to coordinate the work of all staff and develop the skills and resources necessary to meet month end deadlines efficiently for c3 and c4 entities.

  • Supervise the Accounts Payable functions for C3 andC4 including ensuring all invoices are captured and approved timely, the check run process happens smoothly, and accruals happen timely as needed.

  • Review the Lead Accountant and Junior Accountant journal entries and other work for accuracy and train staff how to reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger for C3 and C4 entities.

  • Ensure Biweekly P/R imports are loaded into the G/L with mapping corrections and location analysis including reconciliation to the GL.

  • Maintain facility and operating expense lease commitment schedules including deferred rent calculations.

  • Review monthly and quarterly invoicing of reimbursable grants.

  • Perform first reviews on monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

  • Review inventory analysis and reconciliations using FIFO method in cases of pricing and any variance issues. Preparation of Actual vs Trend analysis as needed.

  • Review fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual cash flows as needed.

  • Prepare Reconciliation of A/P to the G/L and maintenance of accrual and reversing entries.

  • Review monthly reconciliation of Development Department revenue to the G/L.

  • Review monthly allocation of expenses revisions based on FTE’s, Procedures, and Property Values etc.

  • Prepare and/or review the report of annual property taxes for all facilities.

  • Comply with state reporting requirements for unclaimed property – implemented processes for stale patient reimbursements and stale unclaimed property to the state.

  • Assist with yearly budget other than revenue accounts.

  • Works closely with purchasing to better our processes, ensuring accuracy of inventory counts, pricing and coding issues.

  • Works closely with IT - in the reporting needs for Sage Intacct, eCW, Tableau, Cognos, Ultipro – assisting with mapping.

  • Completes various projects assigned by Director of Finance and Vice President of Finance.

  • Interact with managers of departments and facilities, researching and reporting any financial statement questions and requests.

  • Review of 1099 information reporting.

  • Prepare and/or review year-end audit schedules, financial statements, confirmation letters, and audit adjustments.

  • Create reports in Intacct and Tableau for financial analysis and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.

 

Minimum Education:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent is required.

 

Minimum Work Experience:


  • A minimum of 5-8 or more years of experience in auditing or an accounting department.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Experience in a non-profit and/or healthcare industry experience highly desired.

 

Supervisory Experience:


  • A minimum of 1-3 years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability as an effective leader including coaching and team-building skills.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Financial Reporting, Planning, Analysis and Budgeting experience.

  • Excellent strategic planning skills.

  • Experience supervising or managing a team of accountants.
