Job Description:

BIOPROCESS ASSOCIATE (UPSTREAM, DOWNSTREAM PROCESSING, CGMP, STERILE MANUFACTURING)

SUMMARY:

* Hiring two (2) Bioprocess Research Associates who will be working on Reagent production (Vector Core) for research, participate in Process Development (PD) activities - Bioprocess support, sterile manufacturing, media prep, Reagents, PD, Upstream and Downstream Processing; with excellent interpersonal skills.

* BS/MS with 1- 5+ years of sterile manufacturing, Gene Therapy, or R&D (including Molecular Biology techniques, Cell Based Assays, Immunoassays, Protein Biochemistry and Assay optimization along with technical writing and presentation skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Main goal within this company is to generate assays and reagents to support efforts of building a proprietary nucleic acid therapy platform with diverse tropisms and therapeutic modalities.

* Assist in performing various assays like transfections, Western Blots, qPCRs, Flow Cytometry, and Protein Expression studies in cell lines.

* Supporting experiments for production of virus particles using recombinant DNA methods and its characterization using molecular biology and virology techniques.

* Assist with experiments to look for replication and packaging of viral particles in various cell lines.

* Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance, and ordering and receiving of lab supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* BS or MS in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biology, virology, biochemistry or related

* 1-5 yrs experience in the Biotech industry experience and knowledge of cGMP, sterile manufacturing, Fermentation, Mammalian Cell Culture, Bioprocess Research, Molecular Cloning, ELISA, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Western Blotting, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Protein Purification, SDS-PAGE, Plasmid Preparation, Buffer Preparation, Media Prep, aseptic techniques and proper growth and maintenance of cell lines.

* Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and technical environment.

* Expertise in protein and gene therapy vector purification, process scale-up, and manufacturing

* Background in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and (Bio) Chemical engineering will be needed.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

* Research and Develop clarification, Tangential flow filtration (TFF), exonuclease digestion, column chromatography purification methods

* High throughput methods; plasmid purification method and/ or AKTA skid method to generate enough pre-clinical and clinical material

* Cell lysis and neutralization methods to remove more impurities to achieve high performance for TFF and chromatography processing.

* Evaluate purity test results such as qPCR, HPLC, agarose DNA gel assay, provide feedback to analytical group, tech transfer of in-house downstream methods.
