Job Title: Safety Manager #DDIR

Supervisor Title: Director, Engineering

Job Summary:

Manages the plant wide Safety and Health programs. Promotes continual improvement processes for improving safety and health aspects (preventative, corrective and development actions) for the manufacturing operation. Exhibits strong teamwork, leadership and communication skills and possesses ability to effectively manage change.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor s Degree Required. Degree in Safety or Engineering is Strongly preferred. Candidates with other bachelor s degrees AND certification as CSP Certified Safety Professional may also be considered.

7 years of manufacturing experience Required, with at least 5 years dealing directly with safety management Required.

Understanding of OSHA, ISO 450001, ISO14001 and ISO 50001 standards Required.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Walking and climbing stairs is required for up to 4 hours per day

Essential Duties:

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance to local, state, and federal regulations as well as corporate policies.

2. Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures including completion and effectiveness of safety training. Ensure follow-up of non-conformances.

3. Manage critical safety training such as Lockout Tag out, Confined Space Entry, Respirator, Forklift Driver Licensing, Hazard Communication, Blood Borne Pathogens, Machine Guarding, and Ergonomic programs to meet the needs of the workforce.

4. Provide relevant inputs to the Management Committee in order to develop Objectives and Targets for the site.

5. Train employees in accident prevention (SHAP), accident investigation and effective post-accident follow-up action to prevent reoccurrence.

6. Assist departments in the completion of incident investigations and development plans to avoid reoccurrence. Helps the departments deepen the root cause analysis.

7. Communicate plant safety information to corporate management including the tracking of safety indicators and submit monthly report to corporate.

8. Train contract givers on the contractor safety requirements including: On-site Intervention by External Contractors, Contractor Safety Program, Contractor Training Program and Orientation, and Permit System. Routinely audit compliance of contractors and contract givers.

9. Establish best management practices for the site to ensure a safe workplace where regulations are not applicable.

10. Work with, and coach all employees to improve behavioral safety program (MESUR).

11. Build management and employee commitment for a safety program through a Servant Leadership style.

12. Assist in developing multiple shift safety support teams (Medical Response, Spill Response, and Emergency Coordinators). Organize drills to ensure adequate preparation for true emergencies.

13. Advise management of safety performance and compliance on a regular basis. Keeps management informed of accidents, root causes and corrective actions.

14. Maintain required paperwork such as OSHA 300 logs in compliance with federal law.

15. Maintain systems qualifying for OSHA s Voluntary Protection Program, and manages VPP audits.

16. Develop a positive working relationship with the local Fire Marshal, OSHA, and other state and local authorities as needed.

17. Assist HR with communication to worker s compensation agencies.

18. Flexible to be present during various shifts including occasional weekends to support the 24/7 operation of the facility.
