Responsibilities
A day in the life of Equipment Technician - Anesthesia at Hackensack Meridian includes:
The Anesthesia Equipment Technician works under the direct supervision of an OR Service Coordinator.
- Assists the Professional Nursing Staff with coordination of anesthesia equipment.
- Prepares anesthesia equipment and supplies necessary for administration of general, monitored anesthesia care, or regional anesthesia and support anesthesia services.
- Maintains inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Assist with the anesthesia turnover between surgical cases.
- Assist with the daily cleaning of anesthesia machines, drug carts, and cardiac monitors.
- Applies the principles of Asepsis and Universal Precautions to all duties.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Basic computer and math skills
- Knowledge of common hospital equipment used in patient care
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. of weight, pushes and pulls a minimum of 200 lbs., and stands a minimum of length of shift
- 1 year prior experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
