Job Description:


Title: Mental Health Technician

Location: Lindner Center of HOPE

Department: Adult North

Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Hours: 32 hours per week

This position provides direct care to patients as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Delivers assigned, delegated, direct care consistent with the individualized treatment plan. Performs non-patient care activities as assigned. Maintains a safe & therapeutic treatment environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Obtains clinical measurements.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living.
  • Responds to patient requests timely and efficiently
  • Gathers objective data & observation about the patient
  • Conducts therapeutic activities with groups or individual patients
  • Monitors patient & environmental safety continuously
  • Documents in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Schedules appointments for diagnostic testing, alternative care, or patient transport.

Knowledge and Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in Bachelors degree program for psychology, social work or other related field.

Position Requirements

1. High school graduate or equivalent

2. Must have one of the following:


  • Associates or higher degree in psychology, social work or other related field required with 6 months of mental health experience preferred or

  • Two years of experience in a mental health setting or

  • Nursing student in a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited RN program with successful completion of at least one hospital rotation


3. CPR Certification - may be obtained after hired

4. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for the spectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.

Physical Requirements

To effectively care for patients, employees must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and be able to stand or walk about 90% of a work shift. Must be able to see, talk, and hear coworkers, patients, and others.
