If you are a Software Developer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Austin, Texas location, you will join a dynamic team building the next generation of advanced automation software.  We are looking for talented college graduates to design, implement and support the infrastructure supporting the development of the advanced DeltaV process control system.  The successful candidate joining our team will build the tools and systems to deliver high quality, innovative software to our customers.  In this role you will research, analyze and advocate for technologies and architectures to meet the wide range of solutions required from the team. AS SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, YOU WILL: 


  • Design high quality software solutions in C++ and C# to support development teams, customer support and sales and marketing to meet customer demands
  • Support the Emerson engineering team in architecting solutions that leverage Microsoft and other services, adhering to industry best-practices and advising on operations and security concerns
  • Develop continuous delivery strategies and make recommendations for improvements to existing application architecture
  • Oversee integrations across a variety of tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins and Git
  • Ensure CI software and systems meet industry-standard requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.
  • Develop DevOps expertise in the areas of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). A qualified candidate will have the opportunity to implement solutions in Azure DevOps, Jenkins, virtualization and containerization and configuration as code.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field or a master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Knowledge of and experience with data structures, algorithm analysis and software design
  • Experience with C++ or (preferably) C#, as well as Object Oriented development
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating across many participating teams
  • Ability to travel occasionally including internationally
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure DevOps or TFS 2015 or later
  • Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins-based build systems
  • Experience with Agile software development processes
  • Knowledge of Git and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Groovy
