The Research Associate will support all laboratory needs for the Engineering and Biology teams. The successful candidate will perform testing and validation under minimal supervision, maintain cell lines, keep laboratory areas neat and stocked and will maintain responsibility for all instrumentation including tracking maintenance schedules, certifications and supporting ISO requirements. They will be responsible for ordering all necessary equipment and supplies for the lab areas, tracking consumables usage and spending, and contacting suppliers and vendors as needed.

Key Responsibilities:


* Performs tests according to approved methods
* Maintains documentation and control charts to monitor performance in accordance with SOP
* Modifies SOPs as needed
* Prepares samples and reagents
* Maintains adherent and non-adherent cell lines for use in QC procedures
* Places and tracks orders for all supplies, ensuring sufficient supply of required materials
* Tracks spending per project, provides summaries and analysis
* Works directly with EH&S to ensure proper handling and disposal of all waste

Additional responsibilities include:


* Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment, tracks due dates and reports issues; represents R&D labs for ISO process, audits
* Cleans glassware and other equipment as needed
* Stocks, cleans lab as needed
* Monitors consumables inventory and re-orders as needed
* Some travel to vendor sites and Seahorse's manufacturing facility in Chicopee, MA may be required
* Work from home days possible

Knowledge and skills required:


* Experience with analytical testing equipment and methodology required (UV-vis spectrophotometry, fluorimetry, pH, osmolality)
* Cell culture experience required (culturing adherent cell lines)
* Ability to be hands-on, highly motivated, and detail oriented in a fast paced technical environment
* Expertise with and practical use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is required. Experience with GraphPad Prism is a plus.
* This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Biology or a similar scientific discipline, plus 0-3 years hands-on experience performing QC in an industry/biotechnology setting OR 5-10 years hands-on experience.
