Encadria Staffing Solutions is currently hiring for a General Laborer/Glass Hanger for Guardian Industries in Chicago, Illinois!
A Day in The Life Typically Includes
* Responsible for visually inspecting glass, deciding as to whether it is within the EGP workmanship standard #1 (customer specification) to continue through the process, and carefully hang glass on tongs or placing spares in storage rack. For safety compliance purposes, candidate must be clean shaven to wear respirator mask. For safety compliance purposes, candidate can be 5 feet 9 and under due to required bending and twisting into low, tight spaces.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
What You Will Need*
Essential Functions:
* Picks up moving glass from the conveyor or from the spares rack, holding it by the corners
* When picking up glass from the moving conveyor visually inspects glass. Rejects glass if any defect is found and notifies cutting line technician, quality assurance technician, and supervisor immediately.
* Hangs defect-free glass straight on moving tongs with the tin side facing the east wall
* Loads spares rack with defect-free glass
* Ensures that proper characters are on required parts
* Records every damaged piece of glass by type of defect, using counters
* Performs visual inspection on a rotational basis
* Performs tong set-ups when instructed by the Production Supervisor
* Wears Kevlar protective sleeves always
* Changes gloves every 10-15 minutes or sooner if gloves become wet or soiled or upon request
* Performs hot take-off on a rotational basis for 15 minutes at a time. (Height Restrictions due to Safety Compliance must be 5 feet 9 inches or less due to tight spaces, bending and twisting.)
* Inspects hot take-off personal protective equipment prior to doing the job. See Hot Take-Off Work Instruction.
* Takes glass off the tongs as it exits the spray booth and puts it onto the tempering oven conveyor. Does not create defects on glass during handling and ensures that it is properly spaced as it goes into the oven.
* Informs tempering oven technician when he/she has problems (e.g. broken glass on the conveyor, tong falling onto the tempering oven conveyor)
* Keeps working area clean
* Performs clean-up tasks upon request wearing a respirator mask during pollution clean-up (Candidate Must Be Clean Shaven for Safety Compliance.)
* Performs all other duties as assigned
What Will Put You Ahead*
* Completion of primary school with related experience or three-month related experience and/or training. High school diploma or GED is preferred.
* An individual is considered qualified upon notification by the PS or department head to the DHR that the employee has successfully completed the training and is qualified to perform the position. Notation of this notification is made in the employee s training record.
* Basic knowledge of English (ability to understand work instructions and to provide additional information during the production)
* Basic math skills (i.e. ability to do simple counting operations)
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to oral and/or written instructions provided by the Production Supervisor
