Encadria Staffing Solutions is currently hiring for a 3rd Shift Material Handler for Guardian Industries in Chicago, Illinois!

General Purpose:

Handles, stages, and organizes incoming and outgoing material shipments. Identifies, notes, and reports any damages to all materials, and coordinates internal transfers. NOTE: Wearing personal protective equipment, as defined in the work instruction for this job, is mandatory.

Essential Functions:

* Follow daily duties as assigned by materials lead

* Operate Forklift

* Reviews and verifies all shipment documents with materials being shipped before loading to ship

* Inspects and removes debris from trailer before loading, if more than normal or unsafe to load report to material lead and supervisor

* Work in a safe manner and report all unsafe activities with a sense of urgency

* Receives incoming material using receiving schedule provided by the Materials department

* Stamps, signs and dates all receiving slips

* Alerts the Materials Supervisor and or lead Materials handler if they notice any damage to the material/packaging during receiving inspection

* Handles incoming inspection of all material containers (boxes, metal racks, I-rack, totes) coming from customers, Halsted facility, Exchange facility or suppliers and notes any damages on the packing list

* Labels defective material as assigned by Materials Supervisor or Materials lead and moves them to containment area.

* Stores and ships all materials using FIFO procedure

* Assures that all materials are label accordingly before storing or shipping

* Builds shipping boxes when needed

* Receives, inspects, stores, and prepares returnable containers (Marsco racks, plastic totes, I-racks etc. .)

* Housekeeping activities when all duties have been completed and other duties as assigned

* Loads/unloads trucks after the production line demands have been satisfied

* Picks up loaded boxes from the final inspectors, closes them, labels them and stores them

* Operates forklift, air gun and other tools in a safe and efficient manner

* Charges forklift as needed and leaves it charging at end of shift

* Inspects battery of forklifts and electrical hand jacks and fills the battery with water as necessary without overfilling at beginning of every shift

* Gathers trash and empties trash dumpsters (plastic roll-off) into waste truck

* Identifies material to be shipped according to shipping schedule or as instructed by materials lead /supervisor, creates paperwork for internal transfers, stages and loads outgoing material

* Removes all old labels from returnable packaging material

* Cleans work area as needed or directed

* Performs clean-up tasks upon request

* Performs other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

* High school or GED and three months experience, or appropriate training and three months related experience

* An individual is considered qualified upon notification by the PS or department head to HR that the employee has successfully completed the training and is qualified to perform the position. Notation of this notification is made in the employee s training records.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

* Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in either written or oral form

* Ability to obtain forklift operator s license

What Will Put You Ahead*

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
