Job Description:

The Category Manager - Shared Services will be responsible for strategically sourcing and actively managing goods and services related to Patterson-UTI's corporate services. This includes but not limited to supporting the strategic sourcing & procurement activities for indirect procurement within corporate shared services. This position requires strong skills in managing supply/service strategies, strategic sourcing, contract commercial negotiations and contract management.

Detailed Description:


- Accountable for key deliverables associated with category planning, strategic sourcing and performance management of high spend, strategic impact goods and services within the Indirect procurement for shared services departments which include but are not limited to HR, IT, HSE, Fleet, and Facilities.

- Analyze internal and external data and trends to act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on assigned categories in executing strategic sourcing initiatives and other cost reduction/value creation studies

- Responsible for stakeholder management during all phases of the category management process

- Manage commercial negotiations and contracts to support various business units & internal stakeholders

- Provide guidance and leadership for RFP development and evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and award recommendation

- Prepare and lead fact-based negotiations and execute contracts utilizing approved terms and conditions

- Work with stakeholders in implementing category strategies including: contract awards, supplier performance metrics (where applicable) and ongoing performance improvement initiatives

- Make employment decisions in a manner consistent with all Company policies, including the Company's Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Harassment Policy

- Promptly address and resolve concerns and disputes among team members, with the goal of building a stronger, more cohesive work group

Job Requirements:


- Self-Starter with a track record of strategic initiative management for complex, high value, strategic goods and/or services

- Highly proficient in strategic sourcing initiatives including developing and presenting strategic sourcing strategy, aligning stakeholders, developing RFPs, conducting analysis, presenting results, negotiating, contracting, and implementing results

- Experience developing and negotiating indirect related contracts (MSA's, SOW's etc)

- Excellent networking and communication skills complemented by the ability to develop and sustain strategic relationships

- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment

- Strong analytical abilities including the capability to perform detailed market and supply chain analysis as required

- Extremely organized and able to work on multiple priorities with a diverse stakeholder group

- Experience implementing and managing change within a diverse organization

- Expedient problem solver who excels in solution delivery

- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and Microsoft SharePoint

- Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills

- Ability to travel as needed

Minimum Qualifications:


- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field

- 6+ years of Indirect Procurement/Supply Chain experience

- Must have and maintain valid state-issued driver's license, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company's vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:


- CPSM is recommended

- 6+ years related experience which includes strategic sourcing and category management

- Experience negotiating SOW's and IT software agreements

- Experience developing and implementing end-to-end supply chain processes

- Working knowledge of Oracle or other advanced ERP systems

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment.
