Job Description
This position provides task and project management support within a small team of experts who provide
support/services to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Transportation Research Board
(TRB), and state departments of transportation in leveraging a wide variety of data to deliver improved
transportation services and increased safety on our nations roadways.
Job Duties
1. Provide task management and project management support across a wide range of research and
program support projects for FHWA, TRB, and state departments of transportation:
Coordinate and manage tasks for 10+ active projects.
Track activities, action items, progress, and deliverable dates.
Provide planning support (coordinate day/time, develop agenda) and participate in regular
(weekly, bi-weekly) project meetings with state and federal clients; document discussions and
action items.
Develop monthly/quarterly progress reports.
2. Support research/project tasks:
Contribute to/lead literature reviews.
Support the preparation of technical memos and briefings, project reports, technical reports,
and guidance documents.
Support the organization/logistics of workshops, webinars, information-gathering interviews,
trainings, and field tests; participate in these events and document outcomes.
Contribute to the development of case studies, fact sheets, and marketing materials.
Assist outreach to and gathering of data from transportation agencies, partner agencies, and
third-parties.
Present or support the presentation of project findings/outcomes to clients, partner and peer
agencies, and the broader transportation industry.
3. Contribute to business development:
Conduct market research.
Support the development of proposals and technical briefings.
Desired Skills
Masters Degree in transportation engineering or planning, computer science, or related field.
Experience working for or with local, state, or federal transportation agencies.
Understanding of traffic/transportation operations concepts.
Knowledge of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), connected and automated vehicles (CAV),
micromobility services, and other emerging technologies.
Experience conducting research, conducting/leading literature reviews, and developing technical
reports/papers.
Experience interpreting a wide variety of data.
Strong applied mathematics and statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing,
regression, etc.
Understanding of or experience with database management systems.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in transportation engineering or planning, computer science, or related field.
5+ years of experience in a related technical field.
2+ years of progressively responsible task or project management experience.
Ability to quickly get up to speed on projects and be immediately effective.
Excellent organization skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and to complete assignments on time across multiple ongoing
projects with minimal guidance or supervision.
Mastery of Microsoft product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
Desire to join a small team of experts working on innovative projects towards the improvement of
transportation services and roadway safety nationwide.
