The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for this position will lead the regulatory/product responsibility efforts for assigned products/ technologies platforms and be the primary lead for an assigned a Business Unit in 3M’s Display Materials and System Division.   The ideal candidate will be an experienced EHS&R professional with strong capabilities in materials, and familiarity with using the Chemical Data Management System (CDMS).  This position requires an individual who is collaborative, a great communicator, has excellent judgment and can perform in a fast-paced, growing, global division.

As a Sr. Product Steward, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by ensuring global products by:


  • Leading and ensuring the regulatory compliance, Life Cycle Management and sustainability requirements for existing and new products.  Technical activities include interpreting regulations, performing assessments of safety to human health and the environment, addressing liability avoidance and supporting sustainable business decisions.

  • Developing and maintaining documentation relevant to assessment of risk to human health and the environment. 

  • Following, analyzing and communicating the impact of chemical of concerns and upcoming regulations to the business teams.

  • Understanding and tracking customer EHS requirements and responding to customer inquiries.

  • Supporting the global technical and business teams in a large variety of regulated markets, including but not limited to the electronics and automotive industry.

  • Building collaborative relationships with corporate EHSR support functions, including serving on corporate teams.

  • Pursuing continuing education efforts to develop advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements, product responsibility skills and knowledge, and business, including an understanding of technologies applicable to the laboratories served.

  • Team leadership, professional service model and project management skills will be required. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years of regulated industry experience within a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role:


  • Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Human Health, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Environmental Health or related discipline from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five (5) years being a Product Steward in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and use of 3M regulatory databases/systems as:

    • Chemical Data Management System

    • BOXI

    • ELMS

    • Global PLM



  • Understanding of regulations relevant to the Electronic and Automotive Industries

  • Strong Project Management skills

  • Experience working on cross functional teams

Travel:  May include up to 10% domestic or international
