Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is currently seeking a Sterile Supply Assistant, to work in the Central Sterile Processing Department.

Evening Shift 3pm-11:30pm. Weekends and holidays required on a rotating basis.

Full-Time Regular/ 40 hours per week.

Prepares sterile supplies such as instrumentation, med/surg supplies and metal ware, etc., for use throughout the hospital. Preparation of supplies includes decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization and distribution. Responsible for operating equipment utilized for the above processes such as washer/decontaminators and sterilizers. Play an important role in the delivery of quality patient care by understanding and utilizing good infection control practices as it relates to decontamination and sterilization. The Sterile Supply Assistant II is distinguished from that of the Sterile Supply Assistant I in that it involves lead work.

Requirements:

* Assembles instrument sets, basins, miscellaneous supplies and floor trays according to developed menus and department procedures.

* Successfully completes the instrument tray skill check list.

* Wraps all items for sterilization in the appropriate size wrap and/or packaging.

* Assembles case carts accurately, placing supplies in the cart in the correct location and in the correct quantity.

* Neatly and accurately labels, inspects, and records all information regarding biological indicators.

* Monitors inventory levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies; locates and puts away supplies and instrument trays; properly rotates supplies.

* Demonstrates appropriate disinfection and washing procedures; wears appropriate decontamination attire.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED is required.

* Professional Licensures/Certifications Central Sterile Certification (CRCST) required.

* Preferred Years of Experience and/or Skills 3 years of Central Sterile experience required.

* Medical terminology required.

* Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.

* Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain Medical Center policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors, and/or Medical Center employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.
