The Position
Position provides field coaching, mentorship and management to the field-based Medical Liaisons (ML), and develops and implements strategies that: optimally manage key payer relationships, specifically with the provision of timely and up to date scientific information relevant to Novo Nordisk's products or research activities; increase awareness and improve competitive positioning of Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) products; ensure personal development of the team; and ensure coordination and cooperation between the field-based Medical Account Director team and other NNI units / personnel. Integrates Strategic Accounts, project and team leading responsibilities for Field Medical Affairs (FMA); contributes to the representation of FMA throughout the US affiliate and globally if needed; responsible for administrative and management support of field based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Accountable for ensuring that they and their team act in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies. Responsible for administrative and management support of field based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Assignments are objective oriented. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect the work unit. Develops budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Relationships
Position reports to Executive Director- Managed Markets (MM) and has direct supervisory responsibility for field-based Medical Liaisons in designated clinical network. Works closely with the home office, Medical/Clinical, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Human Resources, and field personnel. External relationships include Strategic, Regional and Local Managed Market accounts, Veterans Affairs-Department of Defense (VA-DoD) accounts, key payers and critical customers including C-suite individuals, Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors and other key clinical decision makers within both strategic and priority Managed Markets accounts.

Essential Functions:
Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development:

- Leads and participates in special Regional and National projects (e.g., team meetings, training, etc.).

- Leads and identifies, contacts, develops and maintains relations with key health care providers and other key formulary influencers of all organization levels within the Managed Markets (MM) sector and respond to their unsolicited inquiries to establish and/or further the knowledge and understanding of NNI products and related topics.

- Maintains a thorough and detailed working knowledge of NNI, its products, current scientific research and publications associated with same.

- Takes a leadership role in coordinating FMA activities at assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia, a) ensures and maintains awareness of current industry issues and new data pertaining to NNI products, b) develops and maintains relationships with key managed care customers, c) conveys appropriate use of NNI products and greater utilization of its services, and d) provides leadership with account executives in answering unsolicited questions from managed care customers. Combines account management skills, business acumen, and scientific expertise to enhance value and develop collaborative relationships.

- Establishes the medical account strategy/plan through the identification and cultivation of key relationships and brings forth appropriate collaboration opportunities.
Coordination/Communication and Administration:

- Acts and is accountable for others in his/her team, acting in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies; gives Medical Liaisons (MLs) advice regarding compliance reporting.

- Aids in the selection and profiling of potential contacts.

- Ensures that the most up-to-date information on the therapeutic area and NNI clinical plans and study results, product support letters, and the Marketing and Market Access product plan and tactics is made available to the field-based Medical Account Directors.

- Participates in Market Access meetings and national medical meetings; interacts with management of NNI departments, as needed. Provides monthly highlights from supervised field medical reports to communicate achievements.

- Represents field medical management team on both internal and external projects and task forces, as required.

- Responds to on-and off label questions with highest integrity, compliance, and adherence to legal, regulatory and company guidelines, policies and procedures.

- Reviews, evaluates, and channels information to the appropriate NNI personnel, if needed, and provides timely responses to requests from the Medical Account Directors for support of various activities from contacts in their respective region, (1) technical services to aid in educational endeavors, (2) product and disease information.

- Works with the field-based Regional, MM, and RMS teams to improve and develop relationships with key payers that are affected by NNI products.

- Helps define mutual areas of interest and potential areas of collaboration.

Physical Requirements
50-75% overnight travel required. Home office based role. Individual can be located anywhere in the United States near a major airport. Driver must maintain a valid driver's license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records.

Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

Qualifications
- A M.D., PharmD.
