Position Description:
The Quality Leader for the Extrusion Departmen is responsible to act in accordance with the policies set forth in the current procedure manual. They are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by monitoring, recording, reporting, and follow-up on specified bottle, label, and corrugated requirements in a safe, accurate, and timely manner to ensure reduction of produced defective product and defect-free product shipments. They are responsible for discipline and safety of all Quality Associates in their respective area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Supervises and conducts new mold/line qualifications per BOS instructions.
Ensures that accurate data is recorded on the forms provided and SPC Data System.
Travels to customers regarding quality complaints, or qualification of new materials (i.e. pallets, labels, label glue, resin, etc).
Communicates any and all quality complaints to operations team, and enters appropriate complaints into SAP.
Follows-up with department managers and cell-leaders regarding quality complaints, root cause, and corrective actions.
Utilizes customer quality complaints to back track inventory to insure non-conforming product is quarantined.
Leads all Continuous Improvement Team initiatives for Extrusion departments and other departments as assigned
Implements changes whether process or product related that will effectively drive waste and noise from the production system.
Rejects non-conforming items.
Ensures correct scrap recovery procedures are followed.
Ensures correct bottle, box, and unit orientation based upon specific customer demands.
Coordinates with other quality, production, and warehouse associates regarding either customer complaints or internal complaints (i.e. Matco complaints).
Provides required support to production in any aspect of conformance to requirements.
Coordinates efforts with Human Resources regarding staffing issues, discipline, associate relations, etc., in a timely matter of resolution.
Initiate action for food safety issues
Coordinates, manages and performs calibrations on site quality equipment
Collects and submits microbiological, air quality and other samples for third party laboratory testing
Performs testing for extrusion critical quality parameters, ie volumes, heights, finish dimensions on weekly and daily basis
Miscellaneous related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of a two year degree or equivalent in relevant field and 2+ years of manufacturing experience
Must have a strong math aptitude especially in the area of statistics.
Must have good supervisory skills and be willing to train and share knowledge.
Must be computer literate MS Office (i.e. key programs word, excel, power point, etc, etc), and SAP.
Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple problems without routine management supervision.
Must have the ability to use statistical problem solving methods to identify critical areas of improvement for root cause analysis (i.e. avg, std dev, range, Ppk, Pp, Variance, UCL and LCL, etc, etc).
Must have instrument calibration skills, and willingness to troubleshoot any broken gauges.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills (as demonstrated during the interview process and verifiable through references)
Self motivated, and willing to be self managed
Must be willing to travel should there be any customer quality problems (i.e. this could be last minute travel).
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifteen pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
