Kentucky American Water is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our growing team! This person will play a vital role in making sure our every day operations keep flowing smoothly. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance matters at two water treatment plants, as well as our remote site locations. If you are an indepedent self-starter with a strong maintenance or manufacturing background, this could be the job for you!



Primary Role


Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of the facility and support equipment. Also provides assistance with inventory control which may include shipping and/or receiving goods and equipment.l which may include shipping and/or receiving goods and equipment.




Key Accountabilities



  • To perform work assigned by supervision.

  • To collect, compile, and record equipment data, involving some use of pc based documentation and test equipment.

  • To perform work necessary in the maintenance of production and wastewater facilities. 

  • Must have a working knowledge of electrical electronic and mechanical equipment to include, but not limited to, multi-meters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and sweep generators and calibrators.

  • Perform work on medium voltage equipment, Pumps, Motors, SCADA systems, Recorders, Mechanical / Electrical / Hydraulic / Electronic Valves and operators, Electronic monitoring and output devices, Ultrasonic Level reading devices, Air compressors, Blowers, Radio equipment, Diesel Generators, Plumbing.

  • Able to read and interpret electrical/electronic and mechanical drawings, prints, schematics, layouts, etc.

  • Be familiar with and proficient in the use of electrical/electronic test equipment

  • Responsible for routine checks of equipment, facilities, and security measures as deemed appropriate by the organization / supervisor.

  • To assist other employees in the performance of their work.

  • To report to supervisor requirements for adequate inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.

  • To maintain open communication with all team members.

  • To be on rotating call with other personnel.



Knowledge/Skills



  • Knowledge of basic math calculations such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, & volume.

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as MS Word, MS Excel



Work Environment



  • To inform other work areas and other personnel of situations which affect company operations.

  • To follow all federal, state, local and company regulations and policies.

  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass company’s physical examination.

  • Must be able to perform such activities as walking, stooping, lifting 30 pounds, climbing, working in damp spaces, working in closed spaces, working outdoors in all weather conditions, working on and around watertreatment chemicals and feed systems with appropriate safety devices and measures.

  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Must be able to distinguish colors.

  • Must be able to obtain Hepatitis vaccine upon employment.

  • Must be able to follow company dress and conduct codes.

  • Must be able to use when needed self-contained breathing apparatus, dust masks, chemical hygiene suits, and other safety related equipment.
